Data from official source

The bernette 70 DECO is a machine dedicated to embroidery only: the work area reaches 260 x 160 mm, and changing hoops is quicker than usual because the machine automatically recognises which of the three included hoops, from the large 160 x 260 mm down to the small 50 x 70 mm, is attached, and adjusts the visible area on screen accordingly. The colour touchscreen sits at the centre of the machine, with multi-function dials to fine-tune the size and position of a motif without going through menus.

The 208 built-in designs and 7 alphabets are chosen right there, and elements can be rotated, flipped or combined before stitching; personal designs load from a USB flash drive. Upper and lower thread sensors stop the machine before a spool runs out mid-way through a design area, and thread is trimmed automatically between colours.

It embroiders up to 850 stitches per minute, but that is all it is built for: anyone who also wants to sew needs to look elsewhere.

02 · Summary

Pros and cons

In favour

  • It automatically recognises which of the three hoops is attached and adjusts the on-screen area
  • Design elements can be rotated, flipped and combined directly on the touchscreen
  • The 260 x 160 mm area cuts down how often the hoop needs to be removed and repositioned

Worth knowing

  • It is dedicated to embroidery only: it does not sew straight or decorative stitches like a combo machine source
  • It has no wireless connection: designs transfer only via USB flash drive
