The creative 4.5 is a Pfaff electronic machine with built-in IDT dual feed and a color touchscreen, which becomes a sewing-and-embroidery combo once one of two optional embroidery units (large or small) is attached; both are sold separately through an authorized dealer, and without one attached it remains a sewing machine.

With the large unit, the embroidery area reaches the 360x200 mm Deluxe hoop, and the machine stores 270 designs with 3 dedicated fonts; it also reads .DST, .JEF, .PES, .EXP and .VP3 files from a USB stick. For plain sewing there are 480 stitches, up to 9 mm width and 6 mm length, 250 mm of space to the right of the needle, an electronic knee lift for raising the presser foot, and a bobbin thread sensor.

The automatic needle threader, the Auto Snip thread cutter and automatic thread tension remove manual steps; the start/stop button lets you sew without the foot control. It suits someone who wants to move from sewing to embroidery without switching machines, not someone expecting embroidery ready in the base package.
