The eXplore 240 (also sold as the Elna 2300) is a basic mechanical machine, built for people learning to sew and for everyday work that does not need extras. The hook is a front-loading oscillating type, the most direct mechanism to understand and adjust, with a fixed feed dog: without differential feed, stretch jersey can pucker slightly at the edge if the needle choice is not right.
It has 24 stitches including straight stitch, zigzag, decorative stitches and a fully automatic one-step buttonhole. Stitch width goes up to 5 mm and length up to 4 mm, with the needle position adjustable from left to center. The free arm lets you sew cuffs and trouser legs without turning the garment inside out, and top speed reaches 800 stitches per minute.
Stitch selection is by dial, with no screen and no memory for favourite stitches: what you see on the dial is what you sew. The needle threader is automatic and there is a built-in thread cutter. It suits someone starting out or wanting a simple second machine ready to go, not someone working heavy fabric or looking for digital adjustments.
