Data from official source

This is the workhorse straight lockstitch machine for shops sewing medium-weight fabric all day: an automatic-lubricating rotary hook, a standard automatic thread trimmer, and a dedicated SC-920C control box with the compact M92 servo motor. Feed is drop-feed only, over a four-row feed dog — no needle feed, no walking foot: the seam runs straight and even on cotton, poplin, shirting and other medium fabrics, but it isn't the machine to ask for thick leather or stacks of heavy plies — Juki's H variant, with its own needle and hook, is built for that.

Presser foot lift is 5.5 mm by hand and rises to 13 mm with the knee lifter, handy for feeding extra plies without breaking rhythm. The standard one-touch reverse feed handles backtacking without reaching for a lever, and automatic lubrication keeps routine maintenance down to checking the oil level.

It suits a shop running the same fabric through the machine all day, not one that switches between very different materials: its strength is repeatability, not versatility.

Pros and cons

In favour

  • Thread trimming is automatic as standard, so there's no hand-cutting at the end of every seam
  • One-touch reverse feed handles backtacking without a manual lever
  • Knee-lever lift reaches 13 mm, enough to feed extra plies without stopping
  • Lubrication and hook are automatic, so routine upkeep is just checking the oil

Worth knowing

  • Built for medium-weight fabric — thick leather or stacks of heavy plies call for the H variant instead
  • It uses the DBx1 needle system, so stock of other systems (135x5, 134) won't fit
