Data from official source

The HD718 is a Heavy Duty mechanical machine built for sewing heavier fabrics: the horizontal full-rotary hook, loaded from above, is the simplest system to adjust and thread, and the 5-piece feed helps layers of denim or canvas move through evenly. Foot pressure adjusts across every fabric, from the thinnest to the stiffest.

The 18 stitches are chosen by dial, with no screen: what you see on the wheel is what you sew. The free arm is exposed by removing the extension table, useful for cuffs and trouser legs. The needle threader is built in, and thread tension is set with a dial rather than adjusting itself; the bobbin winds with the classic push-pull mechanism, not from an independent motor.

It comes with 7 snap-on feet and a hard case. It suits someone who wants a solid base for denim and heavy fabric without stepping up to a computerized machine, not someone after decorative stitches or memory-saved settings.

02 · Summary

Pros and cons

In favour

  • The 5-piece feed and adjustable foot pressure help push denim and heavy canvas through
  • The free arm is exposed by sliding off the extension table, handy for cuffs and trouser legs
  • 7 snap-on feet come included, with nothing extra to buy right away
  • The needle threader is built in: no chasing the eye of the needle with tweezers

Worth knowing

  • Stitch selection is dial-only, and thread tension is set by hand, not adjusted automatically
  • The bobbin winds with the classic push-pull mechanism, not from an independent motor
  • At 8.5 kg it is built as a machine to keep set up on a table, not to carry between different classes source
