The Janome CoverPro 1000CPX is a coverstitch machine: it makes the hem stitch seen on T-shirts, leggings and cuffs, with two or three rows of stitches on the right side and a woven thread pattern on the back. It runs with one, two or three needles: one needle makes a two-thread chain stitch, two needles make a three-thread coverstitch, and three needles make a four-thread triple coverstitch. With two needles the width is 3 or 6 mm, with three needles it is 6 mm. The differential feed (two sets of feed dogs that move the fabric at different rates) adjusts from 0.5 to 2.25 and keeps the edge of stretch knits flat. The free arm lets you hem sleeves and trouser legs. It makes sense for anyone who hems jersey and knits often; for those who mostly sew non-stretch fabrics, its stitches are of little use.
