The Janome Blind Hem Foot G tucks the hem stitch under the fold of the fabric: a metal guide in the centre keeps the fold in contact while three grooves on the underside stop the fabric from slipping, and the needle swings just past the guide catching only a single thread, which is why the stitch stays nearly invisible on the right side.
It covers stitch widths up to 9mm and is built for Janome's higher-end machines with that capacity, including the Continental M8 Professional already in the catalogue, plus the more recent Horizon, Skyline and Memory Craft series. On machines with a narrower stitch width than 9mm, one of the 5-7mm variants of this foot is needed instead.
It has to be paired with the blind hem stitch selected on the machine panel: on its own the foot only guides the fabric, while the stitch does the catching.
