This is Bernina's flagship overlock and coverstitch combo: a 4.3-inch color touch screen at the center of the machine guides selection among 27 stitches and switches between stitch types without rethreading from scratch. The loopers thread with air, triggered by the foot control: you hold the thread over the nozzles and the machine pulls it through, leaving both hands free.
It sews with 2, 3, 4 or 5 threads at up to 1,350 stitches per minute, with tension and stitch length set automatically for each chosen stitch (length from 0.8 to 4.5 mm) and still adjustable while sewing. Differential feed runs from 0.7 to 2.0: it keeps seams flat on stretch jersey and gathers fabric on purpose when needed. The knife dial disengages from outside with one finger when you don't want to cut, and the rolled hem lever switches from overlock to rolled edge without removing anything.
The free arm eases cuffs, legs and necklines, and the knee lift frees both hands to manage the fabric. It suits someone finishing garments continuously who wants both edge neatening and a stretch cover hem in one machine: it is not the first serger to buy when starting out.
