The Jazz II is a 28-stitch electronic machine with a one-step buttonhole and a maximum stitch width of 7mm; stitch length runs from 0 to 4mm. Selection is by dial, with a window showing the chosen stitch, and there are 24 needle positions to shift the seam without moving the fabric.
The free arm and drop-feed lever make it suited to free-motion work too, on top of the quilting it's built for: the 12 inches of space to the right of the needle leaves room on quilts and larger projects. The needle threads through an assisted mechanism in a few motions, the bobbin winder is built in and stops on its own once full, and the knee lift frees both hands from the presser foot. It sews at up to 1,000 stitches per minute.
It's a no-frills machine: no screen and no complex decorative stitches, tension stays on a dial. Anyone looking for a display or a wider stitch catalogue should look elsewhere in the range.
