The Aurora is the machine Baby Lock positions to start embroidering: it sews and embroiders on the same body, with 191 utility and decorative stitches and 303 built-in embroidery designs, plus 13 fonts that can be edited letter by letter. The included hoop is 4"x4" (100mm x 100mm), and designs transfer from computer to machine over Wi-Fi.
The needle threads through an assisted mechanism in a few motions, no tweezers needed; one-touch buttons handle start/stop, reverse, needle position and thread cutting. The free arm has a drop-feed lever, useful for embroidery and tubular pieces, and the machine ships with 8 included snap-on feet (buttonhole, embroidery, overcasting, monogramming, zipper, zigzag, blind stitch, button fitting). It embroiders at 400 stitches per minute.
It's built for someone who has never embroidered before: the single 100x100mm hoop limits designs to small formats, and anyone wanting larger areas should look further up the range.

Pros and cons
In favour
- It sews and embroiders on the same machine body, with 303 designs and 13 fonts already on board
- The needle threads in a few assisted motions, no tweezers needed
- The free arm has a lever to drop the feed dogs: useful for embroidery and tubular pieces
- Designs transfer from computer to machine over Wi-Fi, no USB drives to shuttle around
Worth knowing
- The included hoop is 100x100mm: larger designs need another hoop or a machine with a bigger area
- It embroiders at 400 stitches per minute, a slower pace than machines built for higher volumes
