Melco EMT16X

The EMT16X is a professional 16-needle, single-head embroidery machine built to scale up: Melco designs it as a single module, and adding heads means networking additional EMT16X units together, with one computer controlling up to 30 independent machines. The usable sew field is 410x393mm, and it stitches at up to 1,500 stitches per minute on flat goods.
The lower arm is narrow and rounded to fit into pockets and small garments, with an automatic thread trimmer and quick bobbin changes. The included cap frame rotates 270° and comes in both a wide-angle and a conventional version; for larger tubular pieces there's a frame up to 500x430mm. A laser pointer positions the design on the garment before stitching starts.
It's built for a shop that produces, not for occasional use: control runs through a dedicated computer on Melco's own operating system, and adding heads means networking entire machines together, not mounting extra heads on the same frame.

Pros and cons
In favour
- The usable sew field reaches 410x393mm, wide enough for large garments without changing frames
- The included cap frame rotates 270° and covers both the wide-angle and the conventional format
- The Acti-Feed system works out tension on its own based on fabric and hoop, cutting down on thread breaks source
- Up to 30 EMT16X machines network to a single computer, and if one stops the others keep stitching
Worth knowing
- Adding heads means networking whole extra machines together, not mounting more heads on the same frame
- On caps speed drops to 300-1200 stitches per minute, slower than on flat goods
