Data from official source

The MO-6916S is the safety-stitch version of Juki's industrial MO-6900S line: it finishes the edge and closes the seam in a single pass, with a multi-needle setup that covers both overedging and a reinforcing chainstitch. Needle gauge runs up to 4.8+2.0 mm, the combination built specifically for multi-thread safety stitching, and overedge width reaches 6.4 mm.

Differential feed adjusts from 1:2 for gathering down to 1:0.7 for stretching, the same range as the rest of the MO-6900S line, useful for running stretch fabric without a wavy edge. Anyone already running other Juki machines of the same generation can fit existing gauges and devices with no extra machining.

It's a garment-line machine that combines two operations — edge finishing and safety-stitch seaming — in a single pass: more needles and thread to manage than a plain overlock, but one less machine in the production cycle.

Pros and cons

In favour

  • The safety stitch finishes the edge and closes the seam in one pass, without a second machine
  • Needle gauge reaches 4.8+2.0 mm, the setup built specifically for multi-needle safety stitching
  • Sews up to 8,000 stitches per minute, the pace of a production line
  • Differential feed reaches 1:2 for gathering, so stretch fabric runs without a wavy edge

Worth knowing

  • Overedge width tops out at 6.4 mm — wider seams call for another version in the line
  • More needles and thread than a plain overlock — more settings to keep track of at every fabric change
