The bernette 35 is a mechanical sewing machine: stitches are selected with dials, and stitch length and width are set with further knobs. It offers 23 stitches, including straight stitch, zigzag, overlock and blind hem stitch, plus a one-step buttonhole. It has a free arm and a retractable feed dog (the mechanism that moves the fabric along). The supplied accessories include 7 snap-on presser feet, among them feet for zippers, hems, buttonholes and blind hems, plus four bobbins and the foot control. The presser foot lifts in two stages, and the thread tension is adjusted with a wheel, even while sewing.
