bernette 59 vs Janome Memory Craft 1000
Technical comparison · Sewing and embroidery combos
The two combos do the same job, and what sets them apart is the shape of the embroidery field: a 180 × 120 mm rectangle on the bernette 59, a 140 × 140 mm square on the Janome Memory Craft 1000. Sizes and speeds quoted here are manufacturer-declared values.

The differences that matter
- Embroidery field 180 × 120 mm vs 140 × 140 mm → the bernette takes longer motifs, the Janome taller ones.
- File transfer → the bernette also accepts designs over Wi-Fi and through an app, the Janome via USB.
- Built-in content → 500 stitches and 11 lettering fonts on the bernette, 300 stitches and 20 fonts on the Janome: more utility stitches on one side, more letter choice on the other.
Which one to choose
Choose bernette 59 if…
Long lettering, borders and landscape designs, with files coming from different software: the machine reads EXP, PES, DST, JEF and VP3, and a design can be edited on the display. The 120 × 300 mm Multi-Position Hoop supplied with it is meant for elongated motifs. The trade-off is design height capped at 120 mm: a motif 130 mm tall does not fit.
Choose Janome Memory Craft 1000 if…
Square or upright motifs: the field reaches 140 mm on the short side too, so a design 140 mm tall fits. You also get 12 one-step buttonhole types (sewn in a single sequence), free-arm embroidery and an embroidery unit built into the machine. The trade-off is a long side of 140 mm: no long borders like on the bernette.
